What do you want to call your class? This can be as straightforward as:
“Learn to Build Birdhouses” or “Hot Glue Sculptures”. This is negotiable and may be
modified.
What do you need your audience to know about your
class? (try to avoid colloquial words, or jargon without an explanation.)
- Why is this activity important or interesting?
- What kinds of activities will the students be doing?
- What kinds of techniques the instructor will be teaching?
- What are the objectives and final goals of the class?
- This includes the amount of time needed per day with explanation for the time frame. (list
the prep and clean up time needed)
- This alongside the class explanation should give an overview of daily activities. (try to
break this down by the half hour)
- How many class sessions will be required to accomplish the goal of the class?
Include:
1. Safety equipment
2. Tool list
3. Materials needed
4. Quantities per student and instructor
5. Equipment and materials individual costs
6. *MSDS sheet when applicable*
- Answer these questions:
❖ What equipment and materials will you be utilizing in the art center?
❖ What specialty equipment is necessary that the art center doesn’t have?
(Full explanation of the equipment or materials. May require MSDS sheets for
previously unknown materials)
❖ What will the students need to be able to replicate the instructor's process?
*MSDS list is only required for materials not normally used in the art center or materials that could be caustic, corrosive or hazardous.
